RUBRICS are tools to assist
in examining and analyzing student work.
RUBRICS are scoring guides
that provide a common frame of reference of what quality
is.
RUBRICS provide the rules
needed to describe the characteristics of the student work, and
they use these characteristics in order to distinguish work that
is well done from that which is not well done and everything else
in between.
RUBRICS should assist
students in identifying where they are and where they can
go.
RUBRICS should articulate
publicly about what quality is and what the steps are toward
quality work.
RUBRICS should be the same
for all students. Teachers need to look at what they can do to
help students improve.
RUBRICS should be shared
with students in advance of the work.
STUDENTS can help develop
them.
RUBRICS should be posted in
classrooms.
RUBRICS can often be used to
score more than one task/problem/project.
RUBRICS can be used to score
all types of whole school learning results and to score entire
contents of a portfolio
